¡CULTURA! Storyteller Series presents Tatu the Brazilian Armadillo this Saturday 3/26.

The next installment of the ¡CULTURA! Cuenta Cuentos (Storyteller)
Series will occur this Saturday 3/26.  See below for more details on
this popular and exciting series!

The Tompkins County Public Library, the Latino Civic Association of
Tompkins County, the Latin American Studies Program and Latino Studies
Program at Cornell University, and the SLU SeƱoritas Latinas Unidas,
Incorporated are proud to announce the CULTURA! Storyteller Series. The
program features a guest Storyteller representing a different Latin
American country each time, who will share a historic, folkloric, or
personal tale from that country, as well as an artistic activity that
will relate to the story.

This week, join Simone De Almeida Caldas and Jessica Custer-Bindel in a
bilingual storytelling of Tatu, a Brazilian armadillo who longs to
become a famous musician. Learn Portuguese, and be prepared to
participate in some music making!. We will create an egg shaker for our
artistic activity, which is an instrument commonly used in Brazilian
bossa nova.

¡CULTURA! Storyteller Series sessions will take place Saturdays at the
Tompkins County Public Library and are free and open to the public.
Families and children of all ages are welcome to attend and take part
in this wonderful experience.
The program will take place in the Thaler/Howell Children's Programming
Room and will feature the following countries:

Saturday March 26th- Brazil
Saturday April 2nd- Mexico
Saturday April 9th- Brazil (again, but a different story!)
Saturday April 23rd- Puerto Rico

All sessions take place from 1:30 pm to 3 pm.

Sessions are 1.5 hours each and consist of storytelling during the
first half, and a related art activity during the second half.
The Storytelling series is only an aspect of a family of programs
called ¡CULTURA!, designed to take part year-round. ¡CULTURA! strives to
foster and share Latino and Latin American culture with the Ithaca
community through easily-accessible, free or low-cost, arts-based
educational experiences (series) offered throughout the year. This
series explores different Latin American cultures through storytelling,
but subsequent series will
focus on music and dance, art, food and more.
